SLF leads US into the Transistion Decade  -  @ 08:53:pm
The Sustainable Living Festival is over for another year
in Melbourne Australia. For those in the know, it is the
most engaging and relevant event to attend and be seen at…

The SLF festival at Federation Square every February for
the last 11 years! It is a must do event, in one of the
most livable cities in the word..

“SLF is one of the largest festivals in Melbourne and has
the smallest environmental impact.”

The SLF ‘lives it is talk with knowledge and actions…SLF
have been awarded the’. Sustainability Victoria Waste Wise
Gold Certification)”…

The Festival traditionally proceeds at Melbournians “people’s
Square, along the banks of the Yarra River. This is a very
love filled accessible thrilling event for ALL to participate
in!

linkfestival.slf.org.au/

The festival is the essence of “ecological economical & social
sustainability’. and a sound foundation of the “Transition Decade”
We can proudly say, “The SLF festival now spans two decades.
The Festival celebrates innovation and access too very lateral
very realistic far reaching “future thinking”.

The festival highlights an all-embracing range of the very NOW
“Transition Decade”, home and lifestyle products and services,
that included a diverse range of new divine players and products
at the festival this year….

Vita’s absolute new favorites that stood out and slipped on were
the ethically sound, so comfortable so accessible “pantsforpoverty…”
Ah, ya ya, the team at Vita have barely touched the ground since
slipping into our new ethical panties!!

linkwww.pantstopoverty.com.au

Hilarious and so brief and rather naughty , indeed giving a whole
new, angle, and comfort to living on a G-string budget! We at Vita
were most impressed even by side ourself on seeing the elegant must
have linen produced by the lovely Jane from the divine linen range
@
linkwww.ecosleepaustralia.com.au/

Ah yaya "Jane is so"COshee"

This is the best summer activity, not to miss if one has chosen
to live sustain -ably and create anew….This festival has been
traditionally and consistently a free three-day festival
over the last 11 years.

In the first year of the “Transition Decade”, the festival
included two programs. The main event held at Federation Sq
(19-21 February 2010) last weekend “The Local Events Program
06-21 February 2010) introduced for the first time this year,
as a new 2-week format.”

This broader inclusion enabled individuals and communities
Australia, to host and create their own sustainability event
at a local level. The Festival raises perception of living
sustainably and honoring the resources we have, promoting new
innovation and products.

The Festival offers a fundamental way forward so we can all
love and live more fully in the “Transition Decade. The SLF
festival provides no nonsense tools for living well with
integrity, by using less and utilizing more of what we already
have...

Ethical and sustainable values and products are a core aspect
of what one can see experience and purchase Highlighting "tangible
solutions" to the "ecological and social challenges" we ALL face,
as we move into this crucial new decade...

The SLF festival has far-reaching and visionary focus, which is
inclusive And very NOW! The event has an extraordinary powerful
energy, that well may be the largest group of change agents that
are gathered in one spot annually over a eleven-year period!

This event embodies the essence of why we can and must be living
sustainable life’s….The festival has exceptional substance and
offers over 300 events.Informed talks, insightful presentations,
innovative live performances, twilight films, an array of artworks
and very interactive workshops.

All the festival exhibitors. offer useful, “everyday” sustainable
solutions for all of us!

Otto and Spike knitting futures from the past  -  @ 04:19:pm
OttoandSpike A Melbourne Textile Icon
A success story over 2 centuries & going
global in the Transition Decade.....

At OttoandSpike their mission statement, may well
incorporate this divine statement as part of the
Transition decade....

“Life is short so be sure to love and create great things
lasting several life times. Be full of enthusiasm be kind
Weave the future…”

The Mananov family’s involvement in knitting and textile
business spans two centuries. This very tightly knit,
family business, are still key players in the Melbourne
textile industry, under the innovative & compassionate
hand of Les...

Based in the Melbourne suburb of Brunswick, ‘OttoandSpike”
now involves 3 generations of Mananov’s….The‘OttoandSpike”
range are the 21st century knitwear that have evolved from
the core business started over 40 years ago at Cross St..

OttoandSpike are indeed family names, adding to the intimacy
and love that goes into their product. The Mananov’s have out
entwined and woven a bigger warmer future for not only the
Australian market. They are now exploring new frontiers and
venturing into the international market...

Over the last 40 years, the owner's founder Les has led his
family and dedicated team of knitters, with courage vision and
tenacity. OttoandSpike has grown and witnessed the evolvement
and regeneration of Brunswick from humble tenacious beginnings.

Brunswick epitomizes an enterprising spirit brought to Melbourne
by European migrants arriving in the 1950’s. Brunswick is a region
with a strong multi “cultural aesthetic…” OttoandSpike produce loved
filled and skillfully finished. products that will last and last...

The uniqueness of products, created are identifiable and connected
to the heritage and diversity of cultures in the region. A team that
has also spanned the decades work with…specific specialist machinery.

Les tells us the equipment “dates back to 1890 with the newest from
1990. One of the machines has been knitting beanies for 119 years!”

OttoandSpike are very much across the meaning of consume and replenish
in their production strategy of products created at Cross St, Brunswick.
The OttoandSpike team work with total integrity and deeply committed
to, revaluing, reinventing and reclaiming through all stages of their
production process.

Otto and Spike's mantra and attitude is one of ....

“no waste to be had and more gains will be made.”

Working this way has boded well for Otto and Spike.” It is very
much in keeping with the “Transition Decade” of consumes less
and we will have more for generations that come.

They are indeed true visionaries. As a business mantra, this
diligence has been very effective and made them a genuine leader
in the Textile industry in Melbourne….

PRESENTING THE CASE TO RESTORE A SAFE CLIMATE
PROMOTING A SHARED TIME FRAME FOR ACTION
DEMONSTRATING THE POWER OF COLLABORATION

OPENING ADDRESS BY THE GOVERNOR OF VICTORIA
PROFESSOR DAVID DE KRETSER, AC.

The launch of the Transition Decade will showcase
leading work by groups that are using this shared
time frame and scale of change, and will set out
the many ways that 1000's of organizations and the
millions of people can join the alliance.

JOIN THE ACTION ALLIANCE TO RESTORE A SAFE CLIMATE

link www.t10.net.au/

BACKGROUND TO THIS TRANSITIONAL DECADE WE HAVE TO HAVE

At both the state and national levels, local leadership
has failed to deliver even very small cuts in carbon
emissions. Not surprisingly at the international level.

The recent Copenhagen negotiations produced no meaningful
outcomes. We ALL have to face it, conventional political
change are no longer relevant. We have run out of time for
half-measures. It is now imperative that a safe climate is
restored as fast as humanly possible. This requires zero
emissions, and more, at emergency speed.

"The Transition Decade" campaign is well under way & being
designed to meet this dual challenge of going for the goals
necessary to achieve real and effective change.

The "Transition Decade" strategy is to harness the power
and energy of very real collaboration. We are creating an
effective alliance & committed groups inspired and driven
by a collaborative framework..A strategy we can and must
all embrace, through this next decade of structural and
social change.

The "Transitional Decade" launch is the opportunity to
take the size and effectiveness of this alliance to a whole
new level. Already a growing cluster of groups are dedicated
to the "transition decade" and working together to define
how the safe climate goal can be achieved, through technical
and lifestyle change.

This alliance is also working on how the whole of society can
engage with a commitment and passion so that governments and
large corporations realize that taking effective action is
the only viable course.

THE TRANSITION DECADE IT’S TIME TO RESTORE A SAFE CLIMATE
POWER OF COLLABORATION WITH A SHARED PLAN
This is the "Transition Decade," a shared time frame for
action to restore a safe climate and sustainable world -
for US all, all species, all generations.

To make this possible we need to create a commitment from
All communities and build the political will to adopt and
implement the necessary actions to avoid further tipping
points.

To achieve the Transition Decade goals we must all need to engage
and build a mass alliance that is inclusive of all parts of OUR
society. A vast job that no one group can do alone. Many of the
solutions are well within our reach.

Now is the time to engage everyone, everywhere. As a whole and
together we can work to restore a safe climate.

Don't ask what the "Transition Decade is doing for one ask what
one is doing for the "Transition Decade

Always engaging in Transition
